Please join us at Manchester Museum for this panel discussion on Poetry by Late Nanak Singh, novelist/poet & one of the survivors of Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, with Ambassador Navdeep Suri, who has translated his grandfather’s poetry into English for the first time. With guests Justin Rowatt and Anita Anand, moderated by Vikas Shah MBE.

It will also be an opportunity to see artwork by The Singh Twins, designed in response to the centenary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, and visit the Museum’s exhibition, Jallianwala Bagh 1919: Punjab under Siege, co-curated with The Partition Museum. Free but please book your ticket on


Ambassador Navdeep Suri Ambassador of India to United Arab Emirates, (Author of English Translation of Khooni Vaisakhi)

Ambassador Navdeep Suri an IFS (Indian Foreign Services) is currently serving as Ambassador of India to United Arab Emirates. In his long & illustrious career he has served in India’s diplomatic missions in Cairo, Damascus, Washington, Dar es Salaam and London and as India’s Consul General in Johannesburg. He has also headed the West Africa and Public Diplomacy divisions at the Ministry of External Affairs. He was India’s Ambassador to Egypt and High Commissioner to Australia prior to his present assignment.

Ambassador Suri has wide array of literary knowledge in fields such economics, public diplomacy and IT outsourcing industry. He has written the English translations of his grandfather Nanak Singh’s classic Punjabi novels which have been published by Penguin as ‘The Watchmaker’ and by Harper Collins as ‘A Life Incomplete’.
